Random Acts of Kindness

As I was planning my Summer Sanity Saver List, I was really excited about all the ideas I was coming up.  Things to do with the kids, projects to make, places to see...  It wasn't until Kelly posted her Random Acts of Kindness assignment that I realized.  Summer would be a great time to practice thinking of others as well.

With a 2 year old and a 4 year old, it's not always easy to come up with service ideas.  They're too young to be involved in so many things.  And yet old enough to definitely understand the idea of "mine."  So I started brainstorming some small activities that preschoolers could do to be of service to others.  Some of them require help from an adult, but all are worthy causes.

*baking cookies for an elderly neighbor
*baking cookies for the college students next door
*having neighbors for dinner; kids can help serve
*raking/small yard projects for neighbors
*creating art work for elderly neighbor
*visit elderly homes
*do odd jobs for supporting missionaries/ orphans
*picking up litter in the neighborhood
*collecting books for the pediatric ward
*collecting blankets for newborns
*become a pen pal
*allow them to help with a meal for another family
*participate in coat or food drives
*pray for others
*send packages/letters to servicemen, missionaries, grandparents, victims of natural disasters

How are you/ your children practicing Random Acts of Kindness?
