19 Fun Girls Camp Craft Ideas

This Week:

What I'm Cooking:
Our weather this year has been cold and wet so my crockpot has been working overtime.  This week, we had soup 4 nights in a row with 3 of those being in the crockpot.  We didn't eat great last weekend so my favorite meal was probably the minestrone I put in on Monday.  Plus I added tortellini to make it a treat for the kids.

What I'm Reading:
I'm reading Swiss Family Robinson with my 11 year old and loving it.  This is probably my 4th or 5th time through the book and I enjoy it every time.  I also shared my Spring Reading List yesterday so check it out!

What I'm Doing:
We've gotten snow multiple times these past couple of months so I feel like I'm bundling and unbundling my 11 year old over and over again.  It's been a rare treat and we are definitely enjoying it.

What I'm Enjoying:
Flannel Sheets...
Surprise snow storms...
Throw blankets...
Dinner in the crockpot...
New books!
What are you up to?

Christ Centered Easter Books

*This post was originally published on 3/6/17.  Enjoy!

Easter is one of my favorite holidays.  Spring is just around the corner, the days are lightening up, and we're all getting just a bit giddy.  It's the promise of new life and sunshine just around the corner, grass is turning just a bit greener and the trees are showing off new green shoots.

Easter is all about new life, ... redemption, ... second chances, ... hope!

So I love to fill our home library with children's books that reflect that feeling of new beginnings and fresh starts.  Additionally, I look for books that announce the HOPE of the season.

These are just a few of our favorites:

The Easter Story by Patricia A. Pingry

The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story by Jan & Mike Berenstain

God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergen

The First Easter by Carol Heyer

Easter in the Garden by Pamela Kennedy

The Parable of the Lily by Liz Curtis Higgs

What do you read during the Easter season?

Letters of Trust {Review}

Book One in the Friendship Letters series, Letters of Trust follows the early marriage of Vic and Eleanor Lapp.  One day while the couple is watching Vic's younger brother, the boy tragically drowns in their pond.  Devasted by the events and blaming himself, Vic turns to alcohol and his drinking quickly spins out of control.  Although Eleanor fights to honor him, she soon learns that she can't run from the truth and must face it in order to save her marriage.  Through the trials of these early years, she finds comfort in the letters she recieves from her dear friend, Doretta.  But with the Lapp's future uncertain, can they find their way together again and can Vic forgive himself before it's too late?

Wanda E. Brunstetter is a fairly new author to me.  I've only read a few of her books.  This one follows a young bride trying desperately to honor her marriage and finding herself quickly in over her head.  Far from family, newly married, struggling with her own grief and still trying to help her husband, Eleanor's heartache paints an accurate picture of the reality of alcoholism.  Watching this character search for answers, one could easily identify with the frustrations and desperation she felt.  There were certainly parts of this book that were difficult to read as Vic treated Eleanor quite poorly at times. Still she loved him and sought to do her best in the situation.  This was a tale of the dark challenges of alcoholism, but also the desperate love of families that find themselves in a similiar situation.  I would recommend this title for anyone who enjoys Amish fiction
