31 Days of Autumn Inspiration: Share the Bounty {Review}

Recently, I had the chance to review Share the Bounty by Benita Long.  Share the Bounty is a beautifully illustrated coffee table cookbook filled with recipes, photographs, and scripture to encourage in the journey of hospitality.

Share the Bounty serves up a mix of both good and bad.  The recipes are divided into sample menus for a variety of situations.  My favorite being Hospitality for the Very Young.  And I love the idea that Long attempts to remind us that hospitality is more than food.  It's prayerful preparation.  It's seeking to love others beyond dessert and reflect the love of Christ.  It's a great premise.

My problem with the book was that it just fell short.  Hospitality and sharing with others is such a rich topic and one dear to my heart.  With the exception of a handful of pages, this book DOES NOT deal with the subject of hospitality.  It's a beautiful cookbook, but the subtitle (Finding God's Grace Through the Spirit of Hospitality) is simply misleading.

So buyer beware.  If you're looking for a beautiful yummy cookbook, I think you just found it.  But if you're looking for a book on biblical hospitality, skip this one.  Look into Practicing Hospitality or A Life That Says Welcome.

*Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book for review from Booksneeze.  All opinions are my own.
