Sacred Influence Giveaway

Ladies, you are in for quite a treat.  I have an awesome book to give away this week.  This is the second book I've read in recent months by Gary Thomas.  It is also the second book I've read from him regarding marital relationships.  So walking into this book, I wondered what he could have to say that I didn't read in Sacred Marriage.  Boy was I wrong.

Thomas comes in with a very powerful book.  Very powerful.  From the beginning he makes it clear that change begins with us.  What are our husbands motivated by: our respect or our nagging?  And if it's our respect that motivates them, what in our lives needs to change to get us there?

For so long, we've been influenced by what the world says about husbands and wives.  This book offers a refreshing alternative that doesn't come across as a guilt trip or another to-do.  Rather it's pastoral, encouraging, and challenging, all wrapped together.  And don't be put off by the fact that it's written by a man.  Who better to bring your husband's perspective to light?

Need further convincing?  Here's a quick excerpt from the cover:

"Gary Thomas draws concepts from his bestseller Sacred Marriage and outlines practical applications you can start using today.  He also shows how real-life women have employed these methods to transform their marriages."

Really this book is practical, inspiring, and life changing.  It's well-worth the time that you are willing to put into it.  You will not be disappointed.

I love this book! I already own it but if I won I have someone in mind I'd like to give it to!
My best marriage advice would be to understand that your husband is not there to make you "happy", but you are to glorify and honor God together by your marriage.

I follow via GFC. I read Sacred Marriage, but not this one yet. I'd love to win it!! My best marriage tip is to be fully engaged with your mate and wait for the right time to talk about certain things (i.e. not right when he walks in the door at night).

I'm a new GFC follower! My best tip for a healthy marriage is to stay focused on your relationship! It's so easy to get distracted with children/jobs/etc in the mix, so making sure you take time to spend time with each other is so important! My husband and I take non-traditional 'dates' - lunch dates, etc - because it's easier to get a sitter.

My best marriage tip is to adhere to the simple JOY method: Jesus, Others, You, and your spouse is the top "other". Neither of you is guaranteed to always be "happy" but you can respect your spouse despite your mood.
Also, don't sweat the small stuff!

I follow you via GFC and like you on facbeook :)

My best marriage advice would be to remember WHY you married each other in the first place - when things get 'hard'. Sometimes it is best to reconnect and reflect on the good rather than the bad. :)
